Delegation of SATB meets Chief Secretary

PRESS STATEMENT

A delegation of Non-Gazetted Government Officers' Association, Andaman & Nicobar Islands led by Shri. T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary(i/c) met the Chief Secretary today (22.10.2010) and discussed with him the issue arising out of the order issued by the Education Department recently increasing the duty hours of the teachers.
The delegation informed the Chief Secretary that the decision to increase the duty hours of the teachers was taken by the Education Department unilaterally without consulting the Service Association.
After hearing the Association delegation, the Chief Secretary telephonically directed the Director of Education to defer the implementation of the above said order for the time being. The Association express its gratitude to the Chief Secretary for this decision.
It may be recalled that the Non-Gazetted Government Officers' Association on 21.10.2010 had decided to resort to agitation in case the Administration stick to implementation of the above said order, by mobilizing the teaching community in the islands.
The Association will review the issue and take appropriate action in the matter very soon. Other members in the delegation were Shri. H L Prasad, Shri. Venkat Rama Rao, Shri. P Jay Murthy, the VicePresident, Secretary, Joint Secretary respectively of South Andaman Teachers' Branch and Smti. Rekha Sharma, Organising Secretary, Central Committee, NGOs' Association.

Protest against the arbitrary decision by the Directorate of Education, A & N Islands


PRESS STATEMENT

An emergency meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association chaired by Shri. H L Prasad, Vice President of the Branch was held at 5.30 p.m. at Crusade House, Phoneix Bay, Port Blair. The above meeting has taken a decision to protest the arbitrary decision of the Directorate of Education, A & N Administration to enhance the minimum number of working hours of school teachers from the existing 06 hours to 7 ½ hours per day without any consultation with teaching community and ensuring basic infrastructural facilities and posting of teachers as per the norms and standards mentioned in the Right to Education Act 2009.

The meeting decided to demand the Administration to keep in abeyance the order issued by the Education Department till the matter is discussed with the service association and a decision is taken on it. The meeting also decided to resort to agitation if the demand is not resolved amicably.

Delegation of SATB meets Director of Education

News Item

A delegation of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, led by Shri T.S. Sreekumar, Assistant General Secretary of the Association, met the Director of Education on 13th October, 2010 and discussed with him various issues concerning the teachers working under the Education Department. The issues discussed are (i) Anomaly in Grade Pay of Headmaster (Primary & Middle) and other left-out category of teachers. (ii) Regularization of adhoc services of teachers from initial appointment (iii) Grant of ISDA to teachers during summer vacation (iv) Timely award of ACP & MACP to teachers. (v) Timely confirmation of all categories of teachers. (vi) Allotment of sufficient funds and settlement of pending transfer TA bills.

The Director of Education assured the delegates of the Association that immediate steps will be taken to settle the issues. The delegation urged the Director to look into the practical problems cropped up during the implementation of Right to Education Act. The Director of Education has intimated that no decision has been taken so far to extension of school timing and Association’s proposal will be considered while implementing it. Most of the issues, he informed the delegation, are under process. The other members of the delegation were Shri. H L Prasad, Shri. Venkat Rama Rao, Shri. G P Mondal, Shri. Jay Murthy, the Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretaries of South Andaman Teachers’ Branch respectively along with Shri. B Haridas and Shri. S L Vinjit, the Office Secretary and the Organising Secretary respectively of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch.

Inservice Training for newly appointed LGCs'

NEWS ITEM

NGOs' Association, A & N Islands welcomes the initiative taken by the A & N Administration for the early posting of more than 250 Lower Grade Clerks as per the final selection list released by the Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, the Association demanded the revamping of the existing system of pre-service training to these selected candidates for the LGC posts.
The Association urged the Chief Secretary to arrange an intensive one month comprehensive and inclusive training to them so that they could function in a proper way during their service.
