Mass Demonstration by Clerical Cadre

The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has organized a Mass Demonstration at 4.45 p.m. today the 23rd October, 2009 (Friday) in front of the Secretariat, Port Blair to protest against the delay in settling various pending demands of the clerical cadre staff. Unmindful of incessant rain, hundreds of clerical staff working under the A & N Administration gathered in front of the Secretariat. Demands raised during the programme were (i) immediate restructuring of Amalgamated Clerical Cadre and Forest Clerical Cadre, (ii) filling up of vacant posts of HGC, (iii) grant of financial upgradation under earlier ACP Scheme to LGCs/HGCs (iv) implementation of Modified ACP Scheme, (v) confirmation of LGCs, (vi) upgraded Grade Pay under Part B for Office Superintendents, Personal Assistants, Asst. Secretaries and Private Secretaries, (vii) proper functioning of Anomaly Committee, etc. Shri SC Biswas, President, Shri P. Viswanathan, Vice President, Shri P. Haridas, Finance Secretary and Shri TS Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary and Shri T. Manoharan, Organising Secretary led the programme. Addressing the gathering Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association condemned the inaction on the part of the Administration towards various problems and demands of government employees working under the Administration and said that the agitational programme will be intensified in the coming days. Shri Anand Raj, Secretary, Secretariat Sub-Committee also addressed the gathering.

Meeting of left out categories of teacher including Headmaster(Primary & Middle)

The Non Gazetted Govt. Officers' Association has conducted a meeting of certain categories of teachers who have been excluded from Part B of CCS(revised pay) Rules, 2008 (enhanced Grade Pay) on 10th October 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Auditorium of Hotel ACC, Mohanpura, Port Blair. Addressing the gathering Com. Lawrence Fernandez, Former President of the Association emphasized the need to organize the entire affected teachers and miscellaneous teachers and to launch agitations to achieve the demand. Com. D Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association explained in detail the injustice meted out to various sections of the Govt. Employees while implementing the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission and the indifferent attitude of the central govt. towards demands of Govt. Employees. Shri. T S Sreekumar, Asst. General Secreatary, Shri Sadanand Rai, Organising Secretary and Shri. Venkat Rama Rao, Secretary, South Andaman Teacher's Branch also addressed the meeting. A large number of teachers and miscellaneous teachers who have been denied of the benefits of enhanced Grade Pay under Part B viz., Headmasters (Primary), Head masters (Middle), Physical Education Tecaher, PSRT's , Librarians, Craft Instructors, Lab Assistants etc., attended the meeting. The meeting decided to launch a series of agitations throughput the islands in support of the demand. Shri. B Haridas presided over the meeting.
