NGOs' Association expresses concern over the scarcity of LPG cylinders in Middle Andaman

The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands expressed serious concern over the recurring scarcity of LPG cylinders in Middle Andaman. In a letter, addressed to the Secretary-cum-Director of Civil Supplies, Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association pointed out that the consumers from areas like Billiground, Rangat and Kadamtala, are facing scarcity of LPG cylinders for a long time from now due to delayed and irregular supply by CCS Ltd. The last supply of gas cylinders in Billiground area was done on 17th December, 2015. The situation is more alarming at Rangat and a large number of people throng around the truck carrying cylinders, when it arrives once in a while. Altercation and clashes are common between the CCS staff and consumers on such occasions. Government employees are the worst affected category as no other alternate fuel like kerosene/firewood is available to them.
The Association demanded immediate measures by the Administration for regular supply of LPG at Billiground, Rangat and Kadamtala area of Middle Andaman.
