The
Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands organised
a Mass Demonstration throughout the islands as part of the nationwide protest
programme demanding improvement and rejection of retrograde recommendations of
the 7th Central Pay Commission. At Port Blair the demonstration was
organised in front of the Secretariat Gate. Speaking on the occasion Shri
T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association gave the details of the
26-point Charter of Demands which was submitted to the Chief Secretary, Andaman
and Nicobar Admn. for its onward transmission to the Cabinet Secretary, Govt.
of India. He divulged facts and figures behind the calculation of minimum pay
of Rs18000/- by the 7th CPC and asked the government to increase it
to atleast 26000/- as was demanded by the JCM Staff Side. Shri T.S.Sreekumar
also briefed the gathering regarding other demands like revision of pay matrix,
revision of rate of increment to 5%, regularisation of casual/daily rated
employees, exclusion of central govt. employees from the ambit of New Pension
Scheme etc., Addressing the gathering Shri S.N.Mishra, Vice President of the
Association gave details of the future course of action of the National Joint
Council of Action in which three-day Dharna programme will be organised all
over the country on 19th, 20th & 21st
January, 2016. He further informed about the NJCAs decision to go on indefinite
strike if the demands are not settled by the 1st Week of February,
2016. Shri Anand Raj, Secretary, Secretariat Sub-Committee also explained the
details of cadre parity and demanded upgradation of all LGCs as HGCs and urged
the employees to be united for the achievement of the demands. The
demonstration was attended by hundreds of govt. employees from various
departments in South Andaman area. The demonstration was led by Shri
R.Rajendran, G.Sujathan, G.P.Mondal, R.Surendran Pillai among others.
At
Diglipur, Mass Demonstration was organised in front of AC Office, North Andaman
where a large number of employees attended the programme. Shri G.C.Dey, Shri
S.Arumugam and Shri N.K.Paul spoke on the occasion. At Rangat, a massive
demonstration was organised in front of AC Office, Middle Andaman. Hundreds of
govt. employees of the area participated in the demonstration. Shri Suresh
Kumar, Natarajan, Ali Akbar, Sashidharan and Chandran addressed the gathering.
Similar programmes were organised in other parts of the islands.
