The
33rd Death Anniversary of Comrade P.K.S. Prasad, veteran trade union
leader of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, was observed throughout the islands
today the 29th January, 2016 jointly by Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’
Association and CITU. The main function
was held at Crusade House premises at Phoenix Bay ,
Port Blair where wreaths were laid on
the Martyrs Memorial Column of Com PKS Prasad by the leaders of trade unions,
Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association and other organizations in the
evening. This was followed by a remembrance meeting which was presided over
by Shri H.L.Prasad, President, Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association. Shri
K.G.Das, Former General Secretary, NGOs’ Association, Shri Pronob Banerjee,
Former President, Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Shri B.
Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU and D. Lakshman Rao, Trade Union Leader
addressed the meeting. They recalled the
historical agitations conducted by Com. PKS Prasad on various issues of
government employees and workers.
At
Diglipur, to pay tribute to Com PKS Prasad, the NGOs’ Association and CITU
jointly arranged a “Annadan” for the poor people.
At
Rangat, a commemoration meeting was organized at the office of the NGOs’
Association which was addressed among others by Suresh Kumar, Ali Akbar,
Addaikkan, Solai Raj of the Rangat Branch of the Association.
At
Billiground, a remembrance meeting was held at the office of NGOs’ Association
Office. Shri Shubhankar Bawali, Mritunjay Biswas and Satyaban Gain spoke and
recalled the struggles conducted by Com PKS Prasad.
