The Annual General Body Meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held on 14^th February, 2015 at the Auditorium of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair. The meeting elected the following as office bearers for the year 2015.

NGOs' Association pay homage to Com. S.K.Vyas

A condolence meeting was held at Crusade House premises, today, 18.02.2015 to pay homage to the legendary leader of the of Govt. Employees & Pensioners, Comrade S.K.Vyas who passed away on 13.02.2015 at a hospital in Jaipur. He was the Secretary General of the Confederation for more than four decades and also the General Secretary of BCPC & NCCPA. Presiding over the meeting Shri H.L.Prasad, President of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association remembered the great leader for his struggles and sacrifices for the welfare of central govt. employees & workers. Speaking on the occasion, Shri D.Ayyappan, former General Secretary of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association threw light on the life history of Com. Vyas and recalled his contribution as a leader of the Confederation since its formation in 1956. Shri K.G.Das, former General Secretary of the Association also paid homage to the departed leader and memorized his visit to these islands during 1968, 1999 & 2011.

Shri B.Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU, Shri S.P.Kalairajan, Circle Secretary, BSNL Employees Union, Shri Steephen Fernandez, Secretary, Postal Employees Union & Secretary, P-IV Postal Employees Union, Shri Anadi Ranjan Bhattacharjee also spoke on the occasion and paid homage to the great leader.

Earlier, the meeting observed 01 minute silence to pay homage to the departed leader and offered floral tributes as a mark of respect to Comrade S.K.Vyas. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary, Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, who urged the employees and workers to be united and walk on the path shown by Com. Vyas.

Annual General Body Meeting of South Andaman Teachers' Branch

The Annual General Body Meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association  was held   today  (14.02.2015)   at the Auditorium, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair. Inaugurating the Annual General Body meeting, Shri Dharmendra Kumar, Deputy Director(Admn.), Department of Education, called upon the teachers to work for the improvement in the Quality of Education in these Islands. He reiterated the commitment for working for the upliftment of the teaching community and assured the Association that the issues pending shall be resolved amicably through talks and discussions. The Special Guest on the occasion, Dr. Dheeraj Kumar, Principal, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair also urged the teachers to work hard and sincerely for improving the standard of Education in govt. schools. He asked the teachers to pave the way for a community which is well educated and informed to be an example for others.

Shri D. Ayyappan, Former General Secretary of the Association while addressing the meeting explained in detail the movements being conducted by the central government employees in the country on various issues and recalled historical struggles made by the Association for various achievements of teachers. Earlier, Shri Venkat Rama Rao, outgoing Vice President, South Andaman Teachers’ Branch welcomed the guests and other dignitaries in the meeting. Shri R.Surendran Pillai, Secretary and Shri R.D.Yadav  Treasurer of SATB presented the Secretary’s Report and Audited Account respectively which were adopted after discussion. Meeting also adopted various resolutions like Grant of Part B to left out teachers, Grant of ISDA during summer vacation, Regularisation of Ad-hoc appointment, Inservice B.Ed. facility, change in school timing for Port Blair area etc. Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary, NGOs’ Association explained in detail to the questions raised by the members during the discussion session and appealed the teachers to be united and strengthen the Association.

Shri HL Prasad, President of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association presided over the meeting. Smt Nasreen Begum proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of teachers from various schools in Port Blair and South Andaman area attended the meeting.

NGOs Association condoles the demise of Com. S.K.Vyas

Com. S. K. Vyas, the legendary leader of the Central Govt. employees and pensioners died at about 8.20 pm on 13^th February, 2015 at a Hospital in Jaipur. He was admitted there a few days back after a massive heart attack. He was 85 years. His funeral took place at Jodhpur on 14^th February, 2015.

Com. S.K. Vyas was the Secretary General of the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees and Workers, New Delhi since 1967 for more than  four decades. Later he guided the Confederation as its President and Patron. He lead the Central Govt. employees and workers in innumerable struggles from the early 1960s till his death.

His death is an irreparable loss to the entire Central Govt. employees, workers and pensioners movement in the country.

 The Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands express its heartfelt   condolence on the death of Com. S.K. Vyas.

 A condolence meeting will be held at Crusade House, Phoenix Bay at 6 p.m on  18.02.2015.

The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers' Association will be observing the 32nd Death Anniversary of Comrade PKS Prasad at Crusade House premises on 29th January, 2015 at 5.30 p.m. All are requested to attend the function.

Delegation of SATB meets Secretary-cum-Director of Education

A delegation of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association met the Secretary-cum-Director of Education  today  (19^th January, 2015) and discussed with him various issues relating to the teachers. The Association requested the Secretary-cum-Director of Education to take initiative to resolve the issue of granting upgraded Pay under Part B  to the left-out categories of teachers  like Headmasters, Physical Education Teachers, Craft Instructors, Librarians, etc.  which is pending with the Govt. of India. The delegation requested the Secy-cum-Director of Education to start the process of regularization of adhoc services from the initial date of appointments of a large number of teachers whose cases are pending for quite a long time. Apart from this,   various other issues like (i) Grant of ISDA during summer vacation (ii) Confirmation of teachers & publishing of seniority list (iii) Timely sanction of financial benefits under ACP/MACP Scheme (iv) Converting the ‘On Request’ transfers of the  remaining 32 PSTs & other categories  of teachers to ‘Public Interest’ (v) Publication of yearly academic calendar (vi) Appointment on compassionate ground (vii) Issue of juniors drawing higher pay than senior (viii) Reimbursement of medical claims in respect of private registered hospitals, etc. were also discussed with him. The Secretary-cum-Director of Education assured the delegation that appropriate steps will be taken to settle the demands early. The members of the delegation consisted of Shri H.L.Prasad, Acting President, Shri T.S.Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary and Shri R.Surenrdan Pillai, Secretary, Shri S.L.Vinjit, Joint Secretary, Shri D.N.Banerjee, Organising Secretary & Shri P.Srinivasa Rao, Office Secretary respectively of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of the Association.   

7th Pay Commission to visit A & N Islands from 4th to 7th February, 2015

The 7th Central Pay Commission headed by its Chairman Justice AK Mathur is likely to visit these islands from 4^th to 7^th February, 2015.  Service Associations and Unions of government employees working in these islands and others will meet the Commission at Port Blair.   

 The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, the largest Service Association in these islands and the only one recognised by the A & N Administration, has already submitted a 34 –page Memorandum on 28^th July, 2014 to the Seventh Central Pay Commission in New Delhi.  The Memorandum covers a number of general issues of these islands as well as the demands of employees working in various departments. The issues raised through the Memorandum  include (i)   grant of enhanced pay for the Lower Grade Clerks and Higher Grade Clerks (ii)  to extend the  upgraded Pay under Part B to the  remaining categories of  teachers like  Headmasters, PETs, Librarian, Craft Instructors, etc  (iii)  Upward revision of  Overtime and Night Duty Allowance  (iv) restoration of  Earned Leave to  vacation staff   (v)   Hard Area Allowance for the entire A & N Islands (vi) medical reimbursement facilities to retired government employees, etc.  The Association proposes to make a power-point presentation before the 7^th Central Pay Commission during its visit to Port Blair.    Besides,   the Association has endorsed the demands included in the Memorandum submitted by the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers and the Staff Side of JCM National Council in New Delhi. The Confederation and JCM Staff Side in their Memorandums covered almost all aspects of pay revision, allowances, retirement benefits, etc. of central government employees.
