The
Annual General Body Meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of the
Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association
was held today (14.02.2015)
at the Auditorium, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair. Inaugurating
the Annual General Body meeting, Shri Dharmendra Kumar, Deputy Director(Admn.),
Department of Education, called upon the teachers to work for the improvement
in the Quality of Education in these Islands. He reiterated the commitment for
working for the upliftment of the teaching community and assured the
Association that the issues pending shall be resolved amicably through talks
and discussions. The Special Guest on the occasion, Dr. Dheeraj Kumar,
Principal, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair also urged the teachers to work
hard and sincerely for improving the standard of Education in govt. schools. He
asked the teachers to pave the way for a community which is well educated and
informed to be an example for others.
Shri
D. Ayyappan, Former General Secretary of the Association while addressing the meeting
explained in detail the movements being conducted by the central government
employees in the country on various issues and recalled historical struggles
made by the Association for various achievements of teachers. Earlier, Shri
Venkat Rama Rao, outgoing Vice President, South Andaman Teachers’ Branch
welcomed the guests and other dignitaries in the meeting. Shri R.Surendran
Pillai, Secretary and Shri R.D.Yadav
Treasurer of SATB presented the Secretary’s Report and Audited Account
respectively which were adopted after discussion. Meeting also adopted various
resolutions like Grant of Part B to left out teachers, Grant of ISDA during
summer vacation, Regularisation of Ad-hoc appointment, Inservice B.Ed.
facility, change in school timing for Port Blair area etc. Shri T.S.Sreekumar,
General Secretary, NGOs’ Association explained in detail to the questions
raised by the members during the discussion session and appealed the teachers
to be united and strengthen the Association.
Shri
HL Prasad, President of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association presided over
the meeting. Smt Nasreen Begum proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of
teachers from various schools in Port Blair and South Andaman area attended the
meeting.
