The
central government employees’ organizations all over the country have organized
Mass Squatting (उकडूँ बैठना) today the 18th November, 2014
in support of the 12-point charter of demands submitted to the Govt. of India
by the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi. In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Non-Gazetted
Government Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has organized the
Mass Squatting today the 18th November, 2014 in front of the
Secretariat at Port Blair where a large number of government employees and
workers from various departments under the Administration participated in the
programme. Inaugurating the Mass Squatting in front of the Secretariat gate, Shri
HL Prasad, Acting President of the Association criticized the central government
for neglecting the genuine and pending demands of the central government
employees. He explained in brief the 12 demands
on which the Confederation has given call for the programme. Addressing the
gathering, Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association said that the
government is keeping away from making any commitment towards any of the
demands raised by the central government employees’ organizations and said that
the policies of the government will lead to complete privatization of
government sector which will lead to denial of job in government sector for the
unemployed youths.
The 12-point demands on which the Mass
Squatting was organized today include (1) Merger of DA with pay (2) grant of
Interim Relief (3) scrap PFRDA Act and to ensure pension for all including
those recruited after 1.1.2004 (4) against privatization and outsourcing of
government work (5) to remove 5% ceiling on compassionate ground appointment (6)
to give effect to the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay
Commission from 1.1.2014, etc.
