A team of leaders of the Non-Gazetted
Govt. Officers’ Association undertook a visit to North and Middle Andaman District
from 20th to 23rd February, 2014. The team which comprised Shri Sadanand Rai,
President, Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary and Shri TS Sreekumar, Assistant
General Secretary, visited Diglipur, Mayabunder, Billiground and Rangat and addressed a series of
meetings of government employees in those areas. Addressing these meetings, Shri Sadanand
Rai, President exhorted the employees to strengthen the Non-Gazetted Govt.
Officers’ Association to fight for achieving various pending demands and also to
protect the benefits already achieved through agitations over the years. Addressing the employees in these meetings, Shri D. Ayyappan, General
Secretary came down heavily on the central government for
not conceding various genuine and rightful demands of the central government employees like (1) merger of
50%of DA with pay which was due from
1.1.2011, (ii) declaring Interim Relief (3) removal of ban on creation of posts and recruitment,
etc. He said that the Interim Budget presented in
the Lok Sabha by the Union Finance Minister did not indicate any of the issues
relating to the government employees. Shri TS Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary,
while addressing these meetings, explained the steps taken by the Association
to resolve various demands of the teachers of the Education Department. Government employees in all the above areas
brought to the notice of the leaders the difficulties being faced by them in
their respective areas and sought their help to resolve it. Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary assured
the employees that their grievances will be brought to the notice of the
authorities concerned.
