As part of the on-going Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the Non-Gazetted
Govt. Officers’ Association, a Seminar on “Transparent & Corruption-free Administration” was organized at 5.30
p.m. today (2nd February, 2014) at Crusade House, Phoenix Bay, Port
Blair. Shri TN Krishnamoorthi, Deputy
Chief Engineer, Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works who was the chief guest on
the occasion, while addressing the gathering said that transparency in the system will
lead to minimizing the corruption in government. Elaborately explaining the different angles of
the implementation of Right to
Information Act, 2005, Shri
Krishnamoorthy said that government employees
should work with sincerity and
honesty in order to serve the people in a better manner and to implement
various welfare measures of the government.
He called upon the government employees
to be more vigilant while performing their duties. Speaking on the occasion, Shri D. Ayyappan,
General Secretary, Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, who conducted the
proceedings of the Seminar, explained in brief the various legislations enacted
in the country before and after the independence, to contain corruption in
government. He said that despite such
strict penal provisions in the laws, particularly in the Prevention of
Corruption Act, 1988, corruption in the country is growing in all spheres of
life. Shri TS Sreekumar, Secretary, Diamond Jubilee
Celebration Committee welcomed the Chief Guest and others while Shri Sadanand
Rai, President of the Association proposed vote of thanks. A large number of
Office bearers and members of the Association attended the Seminar.
