Annual General Body Meeting of Clerical Cadre Branch

The Annual General Body Meeting of the Clerical Cadre Branch of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers' Association will be held at 10 a.m. on 28.03.2015(Saturday) instead of 21.03.2015 in the Hotel ACC, Mohanpura, Port Blair to discuss various issues pertaining to AC Cadre staff and to elect new committee.

NGOs' Association forms Reception Committee for Annual Conference

A meeting of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association was held on 14^th March, 2015 at Crusade House, Phoneix Bay, Port Blair to chalk out detailed programme for the successful conduct of the Annual Conference of the Association scheduled to be held on 4^th & 5^th April, 2015 at Kerala Samajam, Port Blair. Com TS Sreekumar, General Secretary made a brief reporting about the importance of the Annual Conference and the steps to be taken by the Association for the successful holding of the Conference.  Com. Virghu Bhattacharya, Finance Secretary of the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi will attend the Conference as the Chief Guest.                  

          A Reception Committee comprising of Central Executive Committee members, office bearers of various branches & sub-committees and leaders from various sister organizations was formed for the successful conduct of the Annual Conference.    

The meeting unanimously elected Com. R.Ranjan as Vice Chairman of the Reception Committee. and authorized the Central Secretariat of the Association to nominate a suitable person as Chairman later on. The meeting elected Com S.L.Vinjit as Secretary and Shri B.N.Mondal as Joint Secretary of the Reception Committee.     

          Various other sub-committees were also formed for the proper conduct of the Conference. Com. H.L.Prasad, President of the Association presided over the meeting.

A meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on 14th March, 2015 (Saturday) at Crusade House premises to form the Reception Committee for the Diamond Jubilee Annual Conference of NGOs' Association scheduled to be held on 4 -5 April, 2015. All invited members are requested to attend positively.

NGOs' Assn. & CITU jointly celebrate International Women's Day

          The Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association and CITU jointly organised a meeting at Hotel ACC, Mohanpura, Port Blair at 4 p.m. today 8th March, 2015 to celebrate the International Women’s Day. United Nation’s theme for the International Women’s Day -2015 “Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity – Picture it” was the topic for the programe. Smt Nazreen Begum, an office bearer of the Association explained the origin and objectives of the International Women’s Day. She dealt with in brief the importance of celebrating this day and the impact it has created in the world.  

 Addressing the gathering, Shri D. Ayyappan, former General Secretary of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association  briefly explained the legislations enacted in India for the  protection and  welfare of the women and  said that failure of  its implementation  in a proper way led to the  widening disparity between men and women  and  the  subsequent  attack on the rights of the women.   He said that the women bear the brunt of the disastrous consequences of the wrong policies being pursued by the successive governments in this era of liberalization, privatization and globalisation.  Speaking on the occasion, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary of the CITU A & N State Committee   explained in brief the exploitation of women working  in the private sector in these islands.

          Participating in the discussion Smt Geeta Navin Bhatt, an experienced teacher of a School at Port Blair, traced the reason for the attack on the women to the degradation of moral values in the society. Smt Shabana Bibi stressed the need for enlightening unorganized women about their rights. Another teacher Ms. Anuja Rao emphasized the importance of inculcating moral values among the boys.    Smt Shanti,  Smt  Rani and   Smt Julie Jose  also  took part in the  discussion.  The thought provoking speech made by Miss Nausheen  Nazir,  a student  of Class  X  on the occasion was appreciated by all. 

Earlier, Smt TS Prem Latha welcomed the participants and guests in the programme.  Smt Usha Sharma, who presided over the programme, proposed vote of thanks. Shri HL Prasad, Acting President and other office bearers of the NGOs’ Association were also present on the occasion.  A large number of employees working at Port Blair and South Andaman areas participated in the programme.   

 

Delegation submits memorandum to Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman)

At the call of the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi, a delegation of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman. The memorandum was submitted for its onward transmission to the Cabinet Secretary, Govt. of India, who is the chairman of National Council, Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM). JCM is a platform to discuss and settle the common demands and grievances of Central Govt. employees.

            The submission of memorandum was the first phase of ongoing action under the banner of National Joint Council of Action to which Confederation is a constituent. The other phases of future course of action are (i) Mass rally during April 1^st Week (ii) Parliament March on 28^th April, 2015 (iii) Indefinite strike from a date which will be declared at the culmination of Parliament march. The demands of memorandum include: (i) effect wage revision of Central Govt. Employees from 01.01.2014 (ii) No privatisation, PPP or FDI in railways and Defence establishments and no corporatisation of postal services (iii) No ban on recruitment /creation of post (iv) Scrap PFRDA Act and re-introduce the defined benefit statutory pension scheme (v) Revive JCM functioning at all levels (vi) Remove arbitrary ceiling on compassionate appointments (vii) Remove the Bonus ceiling (viii) Ensure five promotions in the service career (ix) No outsourcing; contractorisation; privatisation of governmental functions (x) No labour reforms which are inimical to the interest of the workers.

            The delegation led by Shri H.L.Prasad, President and Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secreatary. The delegation also included Shri R.Rajendran, Organising Secretary, Smt Nasreen Begum, Shri R.Raji and Shri Vasanth Sekhar. 

Meeting with Chairman 7th Pay Commission & Discussion with Govt. on NJCA Strike Charter of Demands - 25.02.2015 - Com. K. K. N. Kutty (President), Com. M. S. Raja (Working President) & Com. M. Krishnan (Secretary General) attended both the meetings on behalf of Confederation.

NGOs' Association deplore the Union Budget 2015-16

The Union budget for the financial year 2015-16 presented by Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitely is a big disappointment for Government employees and other working class people. The Budget offers no personal tax relief to tax payers as expected by everyone. The ruling dispensation at Centre has not bothered to implement its election promise of enhancement of income tax exemption limit to Rs 5,00,000.

      The disadvantages to common man have increased due to enhancement in Excise duty and Service tax from 12.36% to 14.42%. The proposed increase in indirect taxes is inflationary and is burden on  the ordinary people, salaried class the more.

Whereas the rich and super rich are favored by the Finance Minister with abolition  of wealth tax, reduction in  Corporate tax from 30% to 25% in 4 years.

       The Government Employees are totally neglected in the budget as there is no word about their genuine demands like merger of DA and grant of Interim relief etc.  Requests from various service associations for exemption of ISDA, Hard Area Allowance etc. from Income Tax has gone un-heeded.

            Non-Gazetted Officers’ Association, A&N Islands records its disappointment on the budget for the year 2015-16 presented in the parliament today.
