At the call of the
Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi, a delegation
of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands, submitted a
memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman. The memorandum was
submitted for its onward transmission to the Cabinet Secretary, Govt. of India,
who is the chairman of National Council, Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM).
JCM is a platform to discuss and settle the common demands and grievances of
Central Govt. employees.
The submission of memorandum was the first phase of
ongoing action under the banner of National Joint Council of Action to which
Confederation is a constituent. The other phases of future course of action are
(i) Mass rally during April 1st Week (ii) Parliament March on 28th
April, 2015 (iii) Indefinite strike from a date which will be declared at the
culmination of Parliament march. The demands of memorandum include: (i) effect
wage revision of Central Govt. Employees from 01.01.2014 (ii) No privatisation,
PPP or FDI in railways and Defence establishments and no corporatisation of
postal services (iii) No ban on recruitment /creation of post (iv) Scrap PFRDA
Act and re-introduce the defined benefit statutory pension scheme (v) Revive
JCM functioning at all levels (vi) Remove arbitrary ceiling on compassionate
appointments (vii) Remove the Bonus ceiling (viii) Ensure five promotions in
the service career (ix) No outsourcing; contractorisation; privatisation of
governmental functions (x) No labour reforms which are inimical to the interest
of the workers.
The delegation led by Shri
H.L.Prasad, President and Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secreatary. The
delegation also included Shri R.Rajendran, Organising Secretary, Smt Nasreen
Begum, Shri R.Raji and Shri Vasanth Sekhar.
