The extended Executive Committee Meeting of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands was held at Crusade House today (08.08.2015). The meeting decided to organise suitable programme on 2nd September, 2015 in support of the All India Strike organised by 11 Central Trade Unions including BMS, INTUC, CITU etc, to press its long pending 10-Point Charter of Demands. The Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi is also participating in the strike action for the settlement of 11-Point Charter of Demands of the Central Govt. employees.
The
main demands of the Confederation include (i) Urgent measures to contain
price-rise (ii) No ban on creation of posts and fill up vacant posts (iii) Universal social
security cover for all workers, scrap New
Pension Scheme and PFRDA (iv) Effect wage revision of Central Govt. Employees
with effect from 1.1.2014, implement 5 year wage revision, Settle all anomalies of
VI CPC. (v) Remove arbitrary ceiling of 5% in compassionate appointments, (vi)
Ensure 5 promotions in the service career etc.
Earlier,
the meeting decided to organise separate agitations for the settlement of long
pending demands of teachers and clerical cadre employees. At the outset, the meeting adopted a
condolence resolution on the sudden demise of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former
President of India and observed a 2-minute silence in his memory. H L Prasad,
President presided over the meeting while TS Sreekumar, General Secretary, SN
Mishra, Vice President, R.Rajendran, Organising Secretary and GP Mondal, Vice
President of South Andaman Teachers’ Branch spoke in the meeting.
